Businesses use the WOW factor to overcome UK airspace closure

SWANSEA, 27 APRIL  2010

The eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland - which led to thousands of Brits being stranded abroad - left many SME's struggling to cope.

With staff spread across the world unable to make it to the office, many will see their business suffer. But the latest version of Accounting Office Software Ltd's business management and accounting software system My.N, means that employees have been able to work from anywhere in the world - keeping them in control of their business.

The WOW (Web or Windows) version of My.N means users can access their system - whether they are sitting in the office or stranded at an airport - simply by connecting their laptop to the web and logging on.

The system was a godsend for Peter Guinn of Alliotts Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors when key staff and directors were unable to return to the UK because of the volcanic ash cloud.

'No business can afford to be without its key staff for long,' he said. 'Fortunately, having a solution that can be accessed from anywhere in the world meant that we were able to get on with our key tasks regardless.

'Only yesterday the motorway I use to get to work was closed so I simply plugged in at home and carried on regardless. Without My.N I would have missed my client's deadline.' he added.

Accounting Office's managing director Ian Richards said the latest version of My.N allows workers to stay in touch and in control of their business.

'In an on-demand world, people are used to gaining access to information 24/7,' he said. 'This needs to be extended to the way people run their businesses, the best way to achieve this is to use an online solution.'

My.N offers users a complete 360 degree view of their business.

Delivered as a subscription-based Software-as-a-Service, it has a low-cost entry to companies of all sizes, enabling them to run like multi-national companies, but without the expensive and limiting factors such as infrastructure and capital costs of such items as hardware, servers, costs involved with managing IT systems, and upgrades.
